March Monthly Village View

Dear Friends,
“Shake your soul! Awaken it from slumber! The time has come to awaken to your divine being.”- Pir Vilayat Inayat Khan
Welcome to the cusp of Spring, at least the northern latitudes. We are seeing signs of emergence – some earlier than usual – in many areas.
At the Abode, we are gearing up to welcome visitors and guests, with our programs season set to start in May. We will be hosting a Passover Seder on Wednesday April 8, coordinated by the Inayati Order Center at the Abode. Registration for that will open soon.
We are also beginning the assembly of our hospitality team for the season, and have seasonal employment opportunities in our kitchen, mountain, guest services. Staff, volunteer and work-exchange opportunities are available. If you are interested, please email work@theabode.org.
Our 45th Anniversary fund for the future campaign is ongoing. Anyone contributing $90 or more by noon on March 10 will be entered into a drawing for a 3 day/2 night retreat at the Abode. Please make your donation at theabode.org/bridge.
We are monitoring closely the emerging health issues surrounding the Coronavirus, and have begun to institute the recommendations of the national and local health authorities. As a gathering space for community, safeguarding the health and wellbeing of our guests and ourselves is, as always, a priority. While our campus is still mostly dormant, we are instituting practices to maintain an appropriate level of well care.
“Your power is limited by your objective. If your objective is service, the power that comes through you is unlimited.”- Pir Vilayat
In service,
Al

The Inayati Order has put out a response in regards to COVID-19 (Coronavirus). We urge our community to help keep one another safe and healthy.
If you are feeling unwell please stay home and heal!

During Women’s History Month the Abode is sharing quotes by women from a variety of faith backgrounds. Last week we shared quotes from Mahdia Lynn, a Shi’a muslimah who co-founded a women-centered LGBTQ affirming mosque. For March’s Monthly View we are highlighting the Venerable Dr. Pannavati, a former Christian pastor turned Buddhist monk. She came to the Abode last year for HeartFire Festival.
“A black, female Buddhist monk ordained in the Theravada and Chan traditions, she remains a disciple of Great Master Kuang Seng, continues Vajrayana empowerments and teachings with beloved Rinpoche Zhaxi Zhouma and received transmission from Roshi Bernie Glassman of Zen Peacemaker. Pannavati is both contemplative and empowered for compassionate service.”
