Come one, come all to Thanksgiving dinner, our annual fundraiser for Charlie’s Pantry (local) and newcomer, HungerVan (regional). We begin at 2pm on Thursday, November 23, and the Abode is providing turkey and a few staples, but hope you all can, in the spirit of family, community, and togetherness, bring a dish or dessert to share. Save the Date – Sunday, December 17 is Rumi’s Urs and we are beginning to plan an afternoon of delights. Plan to join Universal Worship at 11am, brunch at 12:30pm, and then Rumi’s Urs celebrations at 1:30pm. There will be music, poetry, treats, and new faces, including Val Feldman of Stable Gate Farm and Winery.
Save the Date – Also, Thursday, December 21, the Solstice, join an “Abode on the Road” potluck and class at Stable Gate Farm and Winery in Castleton-on-Hudson. In dialogue with Yaqin, our Sufi class will be a shared Solstice celebration off-campus. We will have carpooling opportunities closer to that date.
We are excited to announce that the New Year’s Retreat with Aziza Scott will happen again this year, but Friday through Sunday, December 29-31. We are so blessed to have Aziza return to a multi-day retreat and hope you all may join us! Registration will open soon and we will send out announcements. So keep your eyes open and get ready for a blessed wintery retreat to bring in the New Year!
As you may have heard, the Abode will be hiring a new Kitchen Manager for 2018 as Evan Young steps into other responsibilities around the Abode. If you or someone you know may be interested, please let us know. We will post a more clear position description soon, but wanted to plant little seeds in your heads and hearts for those who may be interested in this large but sacred role.
