Abode Village View – Week of 11/27
“A sparkling soul flashes out through the eyes.” – Hazrat Inayat Khan
Dear Friends,
We hope your Thanksgiving was as fulfilling as ours at the Abode. We celebrated with friends old and new, and filled the Razzaq dining hall with energy, warmth, and the spirit of generosity. The kitchen team and community produced a delicious dinner, followed by music, dance, and games.
As we enter the “season of light,” Yaqin Aubert begins a new series in his Message class:
Light upon Light: the Thursday night 7:00 classes, November 30th, and all the Thursday nights in December, will focus on teachings and practices of Light.
Although it may seem obvious, let’s ask the basic question: Why do practices of Light? Because it is who we are. Light practices help to dispel bad intentions and abuse, to awaken our nostalgia for light. We reinforce light in each other. Light is part of our yearning for freedom. It can take us out of our “narrow constraint of our self image.”
“I realize that part of my awakening and understanding and fulfilling my task requires of me to awaken the light, even in my very body, and become luminous, because that’s the weapon that dispels the bad intent and abuse.” “We awaken it by discovering it.” “By communing with that light we reinforce each other’s light in mutual recognition.” — Pir Vilayat
