Village View – Week of November 29

Sufi Message Class led by Nur Gale
Thursday, December 3 | 7:00 PM EDT
Once we embark upon the spiritual journey, we have entered a path, or marga in Sanskrit, a roadway leading us towards a destination. Our marga is the begin-all and end-all of the spiritual quest. Every mystical tradition clearly demarcates its specific elements that define a healthy and virtuous path. Yet despite cultural and metaphysical differences they all share three elements in common: the cultivation of virtue or right ethics, the cultivation of contemplative equipoise, and the cultivation of wisdom.

Keeping these three cultivations in balance is the challenge that prevents us from finding ourselves hovering in a “holding pattern” in a flight headed nowhere.
During the next two Thursday evening sessions, December 3rd and 10th, we will explore each of these cultivations, their co-interdependence, and the importance of developing healthy motivations and intentions that become the fuel for safely assuring our spiritual progress. Our practices will engage in developing motivations based upon compassion, loving kindness, equanimity and joyful empathy.
As in the previous lessons on the mind, consciousness and meditative quiescence, there will be presentations interspersed with sharing guided practices together.
