“My heart melts in Thy light, Beloved, as snow in the sun.” – Hazrat Inayat Khan
Dearest Friends,
We want to thank you for all your enthusiasm and support during our inaugural Unity of Religious Ideals week. Save the Dates for next year’s celebrations with the return of Atum O’Kane: March 29-April 1, 2018. Festivities for this Holy Week began on Passover with Spiritual Director Netanel Miles-Yépez leading us in a phenomenal Seder dinner. It was such a blessing to reflect on freeing ourselves from the places that restrict us, redemption, service, all with the Abode community and beyond.
Deepest gratitude to Al Bellenchia, Pauline Baudon, Tony Cortese, Katya DePaolo, Iromee Alima Gale, Netanel Miles-Yépez, Moon Mooney, Rehan Morey, Rahma Rabinowitz, Larz Stephenson, Evan Young, and Wahida Young for all your help with organization, hospitality, and culinary wizardry!
We ended Unity of Religious Ideals week today with our Easter celebrations. Thank you so much for joining us today for worship, food, and noteworthy egg hunting skills.
Registration is still open for this week’s The Sacred Art of Storytelling with M’ellen Kennedy (4/21-4/23). The workshop will explore the differences between oral and written culture, the human propensity for stories (including some current research findings from psychology and neuroscience), the role of stories in religious traditions, and some fundamentals of engaging storytelling. Click here to register!
We also hope you will join us for Rasa Shastra (May 12-14th) with Netanel Miles-Yépez and Deepa Gulrukh Patel. This three-day program will explore the themes of love, intimacy, sex, and modern relations in the context of Rasa Shastra—a series of lessons given by Hazrat Inayat Khan on intimate relationships. Click here to register!
Many Blessings,

Keep the Unity Alive
Beloved Ones,
While Unity of Religious Ideals Week is over, we want to keep the spirit of dialogue and universalism alive. One of our Abode residents, Nabila Mariana Evans, in collaboration with Netanel and myself, is organizing a few opportunities that we wanted to let you know about and invite you to join!
“Harmony In Worship” is an exploration-based outing to engage local religious communities. The first event will be an evening at Tendai Buddhist Institute on Wednesday, April 19th, at 6pm. Please contact marianacevans@gmail.com for more details.
“Love In Action” is a service-based outing to engage the larger community. The first event will be to support the American Red Cross blood drive on Monday, April 17th, at 3:30pm. Please contact marianacevans@gmail.com for more details.
We see these as reflections of the kinship activities and universal worship activities in their various faces and forms practiced at the Abode, and as ways for the spirit and energy of the Abode to get off campus and step into the larger world in a meaningful way! We are so grateful for residents like Nabila taking up the mantle to move the Message of Inayat Khan’s universalist Sufi ideals off the mountain and into the valley, sharing the message of love, harmony, and beauty! Join the Journey!
Wings out, hearts up!
