Abode Village View – Week of 7/17

“Send the shower of your mercy and compassion on humanity.” – Hazrat Inayat Khan

Dear Ones,

We have definitely felt the showers here at the Abode in this very wet season and continue to revel in this abundant mercy and compassion – what blessings!

Many of you were here for Season of the Rose where we farewelled the IO headquarters and Bawa with his family, but the next day began the arrival of our SpiritFire friends and on Thursday, NVC.  SpiritFire departed and NVC stayed, remaining here through Friday.  It’s Sunday and a quiet weekend here until the arrival of our dear CE-5 friends on July 21!

There’s a New Moon Women’s Circle on Sunday and Flying Deer will spend some time up the mountain.  The following week is quiet with only a Village Visit the 28-30th with a Potluck and 5th Monday Celebration on July 31st.

August picks up with two sessions of Wild Woman Fest, a Farm Class, the Spirituality In Medicine group, followed by a Solar Eclipse on the 21st.

We’re announcing a Save The Date for September 22-24, 2017, for an exciting program in collaboration with our friends Onaje Muid and Fatima Hafiz-Wahid.  This event will feature master musician Randy Weston, who claims Hazrat Inayat Khan as an inspiration, and many healers for a robust, African-inspired weekend.  More details will be forthcoming.

Another Save The Date we previously mentioned is a retreat with Aziza and Khabira November 10-12, 2017.  More details will be forthcoming.

And for 2018, a Save The Date for a week-long retreat with Taj Inayat from May 7-May 12, 2018.  More details will be forthcoming.

A reminder with these events, Abode Ambassadors get advanced registration so consider signing up today!

Many of you have sent love and regards over the past weeks for which we are so grateful, and rest assured you all have a home at the Abode as we grow into being an Eco-Sufi Village (inspired by Pir Zia’s “The Holy Mysteries of the Five Elements”).  Eco honors the land, Sufi honors the Message, and Village honors you – our dear community who constantly offers love and support!

Blessings to you all!  And even in the rain,
Wings out, hearts up!

Abode Director of Programs

“We will explore the Lataif, the subtle spiritual centers, as Pir Zia has taught them in Suluk and from other sources. The lataif are: ‘Organs of spiritual perception that constitute our greater physiology beyond the visible physical organs. They are subtle centers each corresponding to another plane of being. We in our totality encompass the whole range of phenomenon from the eternal to the ephemeral, from the infinite to the bounded, and between the physical plane and the totality the infinite and eternal essence there are gradations. And the lataif constitute a kind of ladder, progressive series, increasingly subtle, increasingly more transcendent.’ – Pir Zia”

“What does it mean to fulfill the obligations of a human life? We’ll explore this theme from the new volume of The Inner Life that was published last year. “The position of the person living the inner life becomes like that of a grown-up person living among many children. At the same time, outwardly there seems no difference as is apparent in the age of the children and the grown person, the difference lying in the size of one’s outlook, which is not always apparent.” What is meant by the size of one’s outlook? What is the size of my outlook in life?”
