Abode Village View – The Abode is Spirituality

Abode Village View – The Abode is Spirituality

The Abode is…

Spirituality.

For more than 40 years years, the Abode has endured because of its people. People, like you, devoted to a vision, as described by Pir Vilayat:

“[The Abode] is devised for people who find a need in their lives to integrate their higher ideals into everyday living, as a model for a better world to come.”

The Abode needs your help to continue this work. With your contribution to our Summer Appeal, we can secure the ideals and legacy of the Abode for future seekers.

Please give generously today.

Abode Village View – Programs Update

Fall is here. Orange sunset, chilly nights, and turning leaves all remind us to slow down, to connect with our breath (which we can almost now see), and walk more thoughtfully.

A group of residents and community members gathered Friday with new friends from Mediation Matters for a conversation on the state of the Abode, ways to move forward, and how to address the multifarious needs of this complex Abode.  This coming Tuesday, staff, residents, and neighbors will have an “Away Day” at Camp Hill Village to share moments in service and friendship, seeing another village at work!

Wednesday is Hejirat Day and Noorunnisa’s Urs. Thursday is a farm class at 4pm, free langar dinner at 6pm, and Fanna-fi-Allah in concert at 7:30pm ($25 online, $30 at the door).  More at www.theabode.org/sufimusic.  Friday, PresentPresent returns for a second year of magical music on the mountain.

Registration is still open but filling fast for our Healers Retreat – Healing Ourselves and Our Communities - on September 22-24.  Details at www.theabode.org/healersretreat.  And the venue has changed for the special concert with Dr. Randy Weston – the Berkshire Museum, who hosted Dr. Weston a few years ago, has offered to house this historic return of Dr. Weston to the Berkshires as he dialogues (via teleconference) with the grandson of one of his inspirations, our own Pir Zia Inayat-Khan.  More details at www.theabode.org/randyweston.

MacArthur Fellow and geomorphologist David Montgomery will be here in dialogue with our Abode Farmers for “Down and Dirty – the Soul of Soil” on September 29.  Join us for an afternoon of lecture, panel discussion, farm tour, and farm-to-table dinner.  More details at www.theabode.org/programs.

The Abode is also trying to gather folks for 2018’s Parliament of World Religions in Toronto.  We aim at having at least 10 people to get the discounted rate.  We would need people’s commitment and payment by the 25th so we could purchase the tickets all at once.  If you are interested, reach out to Ibrahím at programs@theabode.org.

Registration opens on Thursday for two exciting programs so keep your eyes peeled for Thursday’s e-mail!

The Abode Summer Appeal is still under way!  Thanks to all who have already given!!!  Give today and keep the Abode as a sanctuary for Sufis and seekers.  We truly cannot do this without your support.
