Abode Village View – Week of 9/17

Abode Village View – Week of 9/17

Righteousness comes from the very essence of the soul.” – Hazrat Inayat Khan

Dear Friends,

On Sunday afternoon, September 30th, at 2:00 we are having our official opening of the Pir Vilayat Center with Aziza Scott. The opening will include memories of Pir Vilayat, practices and end with refreshments. Everyone is welcome.

If you haven’t heard, over the past several months the Abode has been in the process of transforming the house, where Pir Vilayat, Pir Zia and their families lived at the Abode, into a center for the study and celebration of the legacy of Pir Vilayat. The focus of the Pir Vilayat Center for Meditation and Retreat will be on Pir Vilayat’s teachings, Sufi teachings in general, interspiritual dialogue, and the interface of science-psychology-spirituality. Instead of being used as general housing at the Abode, the Pir Vilayat Center will house visiting teachers, small group retreats and programs. This orientation is more suited to maintaining the Baraka of the space and structure.

We have already had the joy of having Wahhab and Batina Sheets as teachers in residence for the month of August and Pir Zia stayed there for the three-day retreat that just finished this past weekend. We are developing a web site and library/archives (more to come about this in the future). We will have links to inform people of Pir Zia’s schedule and teachings, and publications from Omega Press.

Bringing Spirituality into Everyday Life with Himayat Inayati | October 5-7 | Pir Vilayat invoked a beautiful world filled with beautiful people and often underscored that the dervish brings to the world a living God – bringing Reality right into the marketplace! Today’s world is brimming with clouds all around us and naturally within us as well. The challenge that Pir Vilayat offers is to unleash that Great Spirit found at the depth of our soul in a manner that illuminates us and is shared with the world around us. This three-day retreat will revisit, celebrate, and apply the teaching of Pir Vilayat – addressing the needs of the young adult entering the world, the mature adult moving through this world, and the older adult making use of the space that is now offered within their life. Her humor and common sense provide a grounded approach to spirituality that helps in personal problem solving, inner realization and spiritual growth. Yaqin Aubert will lead the early morning and evening sessions, and will welcome retreatants on Thursday evening.
