Village View – Week of July 11

On a blue gradient background with a lineart drawing of five mountains. Blue text reads, "While one rejoices over their rise and sorrows over their fall, the wise person takes both as the natural consequences of life." [linebreak] Hazrat Inayat Khan [linebreak] Bowl of Saqi - July 9

Message Class led by Nur Gale
Thursday, July 15 | 7:00 PM ET

In several places in Murshid’s collective lectures he speaks about five stages or levels at which consciousness operates. These stages provide a rough template for taking the mind itself as a path for unveiling our intrinsic divine inheritance. By following the practices of mushahada, we proceed from the ordinary consciousness of the coarse mind to more rarefied and subtler degrees of luminosity and cognizance.

A black background with two hands in the center illuminated by the candle they hold. White text between two horizontal, white lines at the top of the image reads, "Message Class," in all caps. On the bottom of the image, between thin lines reads, "Thursdays @ 7:00 PM ET," also in all caps.

With the help of Merlin and his magic wand, we can create an imaginary and magical sensory deprivation tank to conduct a thought experiment to better understand the fundamental characteristics or the “qualia” of consciousness.  By adding investigative insight — the vipassana jnanas as taught by Pir Vilayat — one then further clears the obstructive dross  away from awareness to realize the empty nature of self and phenomena and ultimately the realization Murshid describes as “nirvana” beyond all conceptualization and dualities.  This class will be a continuation of our explorations into mushahada with some added goodies, a little extra spice, for further developing these series of practices in unlearning our habits of mental wandering and constanting “doing.”
