Join us for Tara Circles at the Abode: 4th Sunday of the month from 2 to 4 pm.

This month, May 25, 2025 we will meet in the Family Room in Fattah at the Abode.

“Dancing the Goddess, circles of dancers throughout the world gather to celebrate, reaching within themselves to balance the feminine side of their nature so long denied in our world… The ‘Goddess' we dance is Tara, known as ‘Mother of the Buddhas’ and for her qualities of Wisdom, Compassion, and Power.  One of the ancient myths of Tara says that she arose from a tear of the Lord of Compassion, who wept when he saw the suffering of those on earth. Tara vowed to return lifetime after lifetime to be a source of comfort to those in need and always in the body of a woman.”

The practice of Tara is open to all, and is based in ancient Tibetan Buddhist practice, but is medicine for our times. Lama Thubten Yeshe explains the practice like this: “Tantric meditational deities should not be confused with what different mythologies and religions might mean when they speak of gods and goddesses. Here the deity we choose to identify with (Tara) represents the essential qualities of the fully awakened experience latent within us. To use the language of psychology, such a deity is an archetype of our own deepest nature, our most profound level of consciousness. In tantra we focus our attention on such an archetypal image and identify with it in order to arouse the deepest, most profound aspects of our being and bring them into our present reality.”

We gather at 2 pm - dance in moving meditation, talk, share and snack. We want everyone to able to come together in joy.

Please pay what you can! We have set a suggested donation of $20 in order to support the work of the Abode.
